CAT’S EYE BUBBLE CORAL (Plerogyra sinuosa)

The Cat’s Eye Bubble Coral (Plerogyra sp.) is a captivating large polyp stony (LPS) coral known for its oval “bubble” tentacles that display a glowing slit pattern resembling a cat’s eye. Under blue LED lighting, its colours shimmer beautifully in shades of green, cream, and subtle gold, adding elegance and texture to the aquarium.

This coral prefers low to moderate water flow to allow its bubbles to expand fully without damage, and moderate lighting (PAR 80–120). It should be placed in the lower to middle region of the tank with enough open space, as its sweeper tentacles can reach 10–12 cm during nighttime feeding.

While semi-aggressive, it’s relatively hardy once established. Feed once or twice per week with small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, or specialized coral feeds to promote healthy tissue growth and vibrant colouration.
