The Watermelon Favia Coral (Favia sp.) is a hardy large polyp stony (LPS) coral admired for its vibrant colour combination — deep red to pink outer ridges surrounding bright fluorescent green centres. Under actinic or blue spectrum lighting, the coral’s colours intensify dramatically, giving your tank a glowing, high-end reef look.

This coral thrives in moderate lighting (PAR 80–150) and moderate water flow that keeps debris off the surface while not being too strong. It’s best placed in the middle to lower section of the tank, on stable rock or substrate. While generally peaceful, it can extend sweeper tentacles up to 5 cm at night, so give 5–8 cm of space from other corals.

Feed once or twice weekly with small meaty foods such as mysis, brine shrimp, or powdered coral foods to enhance growth and colour intensity. The Watermelon Favia grows in a dome-shaped, encrusting pattern, making it a perfect coral for filling gaps in rockwork or adding colour contrast to mixed LPS reefs.
