Add lush colour and natural texture to your reef with the Green Rhodactis Mushroom! Its rich green tones shimmer beautifully under blue lighting, creating a stunning, soft coral garden effect. Easy to care for and ideal for both beginners and experienced reef keepers.
The Green Rhodactis is a hardy and eye-catching soft coral known for its velvety, textured surface and vivid green coloration. Each polyp resembles a soft dome covered in small tentacle-like structures that give it a “hairy” appearance. When mature, it can form beautiful colonies that add vibrant life and motion to any reef aquarium.
Scientific Name: Rhodactis indosinensis
Common Name: Green Rhodactis Mushroom, Hairy Mushroom Coral
Care Level: Easy
Lighting: Low to moderate (PAR 50–120). Too much light can cause bleaching, so place it in shaded or indirect light areas.
Water Flow: Low to moderate. Avoid strong currents as they may cause the coral to retract or detach.
Placement: Bottom to mid-level areas of the tank, on rocks or substrate. Give enough space to expand and spread.
Feeding: Mostly photosynthetic but benefits from occasional feeding with coral foods such as Reef-Roids, phytoplankton, or marine snow.
Ideal Water Parameters:
Temperature: 24–26 °C
Salinity: 1.024–1.026 (35 ppt)
pH: 8.1–8.4

Phosphate: <0.05 ppm
Tank Size: Minimum 50 L. Suitable for nano and large reef tanks alike.
Compatibility: Peaceful coral. It can be placed near other soft corals, but avoid direct contact with more aggressive LPS species. It may overgrow nearby rocks if conditions are ideal.
Notes:
The Green Rhodactis is an excellent beginner coral that adapts easily to various conditions. It thrives in stable systems and under blue lighting, showing its best colours and gentle waving motion. Great for filling spaces between rocks or creating a vibrant soft coral area.
